Improbable Fiction by Alan Ayckbourn
14th - 17th April 2010 at The Rhoda McGaw Theatre, Woking
Directed by Colin Orbaum
Six aspiring authors meet to share their latest work. Each shows flaws and foibles in their writing. When their dramas become real, and are played out, together with their writing flaws, the whole thing becomes hilarious. Ayckbourn, as ever, combines sharp comedy and affectionate satire in this zany, imaginative play.
Well cast, well acted with panache and confidence - this was a performance to be proud of. With an excellent set, costume, lighting and sound effects, the director Colin Orbaum, produced an enthralling evening for a very appreciative audience.

2nd - 5th December 2009 at The Rhoda McGaw Theatre, Woking.
Richard Walton, director, and cast gave us a wonderful evening of fun as they unravelled a plot as proposterous as they come. Eric Swan, played by Tim Morley and his ridiculous and unsuspecting partner in crime Norman Bassett (Craig Morgan), are trying to stop their receipt of illegal Social Security benefits which, of course, Eric started in the first place.
From the arrival of Mr Jenkins (Henry Arthur), Uncle George (Alan Arlington) and Sally Chessington, Bereavement Councillor (Monique Liverton) the pace quickened,as characters became hidden, and identities changed. Things got even more complicated when Dr Chapman, Behavioural Psychologist (Glyn Williams) and an Undertaker (Clive Bailey) arrived on the scene. Dr Chapman had come to help Mrs Linda Swan, played by Eleanor King, to come to terms with her husband's supposed cross-dressing.
The last scene involved Norman dressing as Mrs Swan, and the arrival of the dreaded and formidable Social Services Executive, Mrs Cowper (played by Denise Bailey), and Norman's fiancee (Renata Kvetova). All this was farce at it's best - frantic, fast and above all, very funny.
All are to be congratulated.
